With almost 30 years of operation in Queensland, the LEA Group has grown to become one of the strongest and most respected licensed insurance broking firms in the state. The firm is 100% Australian owned and operated by eight principals with diverse and respected backgrounds.
Operating from two main offices in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, we have more than 25 staff. Our principals have decades of experience in the industry, with many having held senior positions on industry-related boards.
Principals
Dennis Keating - Managing Director
Dennis Keating is Managing Director of LEA Insurance Brokers. As Managing Director, Dennis is committed to the strategic direction of the company and management of its staff. During the amalgamation of Barry J Lea and Associates and Robina Insurance Brokers, he played a key role in sourcing funding and uniting the directors to form a cohesive unit for LEA Insurance Brokers.
Dennis has over thirty two years of experience in the industry, with seven years at insurance company Mercantile Mutual and twenty five years in insurance broking.
His solid knowledge of his clients and current trends within the insurance market, and his strong relationships with underwriters, is a valuable dimension of LEA Insurance Brokers' expertise. Dennis partnered with Barry J Lea in 1985 to launch the Gold Coast based insurance advisory firm, Keating Lea and Associates.
In 1989 Keating Lea and Associates amalgamated with Barry J Lea and Associates and registered as brokers. Dennis is a member of the Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers (CQIB), the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) and the Insurance Broker Network Australia (IBNA). Between 2002 and 2004, he was also a national board member for IBNA. Dennis achieved a Diploma of Financial Services (Broking) in 2002.
In his spare time, Dennis enjoys playing golf, caravanning, and following his childrens' sport.
Dennis is based at LEA's Gold Coast office.

Graham Green - Practice Manager
Graham has served with the group since the early 1990s, commencing with Robina Insurance Brokers which in turn merged with Barry J Lea & Associates to become LEA Insurance Brokers in 2005. Graham, however, has 45 years experience in the industry, starting in 1965 with Victoria Insurance, which was subsequently taken over by NZI Insurance. Graham moved to the Gold Coast in 1982 as Manager of NZI Insurance (Gold Coast) and resigned in 1991 to commence Robina Insurance Brokers.
Graham has a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) & is QPIB accredited. He is a life member of the Mudgeeraba Sports Club and enjoys travelling, camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Pat Tully - Insurance Broker
Pat has been principal and owner of the Robina office of Robina Insurance Brokers since June 1999. With over 33 years experience in the insurance industry, both in underwriting and broking, Pat focuses on fitness centres, personal trainers, franchises, small to medium commercial clients and the sports industry generally.
Prior to joining Robina Insurance Brokers, Pat ran his own successful broking office at Burleigh Heads which commenced operations in 1992. After relocating to Robina, an opportunity was seen to service the insurance needs of the business sector in the area and this complimented the head office, which was operating at Bundall. Joining the industry with roles at South British United Insurance (now CGU Insurance) and GRE Insurance (now Zurich Insurance), Pat held various sales positions which put him on a personal relationship with clients, and to provide "Service beyond the contract".
Providing superior customer service and keeping the client informed on changes within the industry, has seen Pat develop and maintain a multi-million dollar portfolio, which has had exceptional growth with the help of his loyal and passionate staff. It was this passion that helped him win Sportscover International Broker in 2005.
Pat has a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) and a Diploma Financial Services (Broking), is an affiliate member of the Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), a Certified Insurance Professional (CIP), and a NIBA-accredited Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB). He is also a member of the Robina Chamber of Commerce and various other committees.

Eric Gardner - Insurance Broker
Eric Gardner is one of LEA's principals, joining the group as an insurance broker in June 2004. With 36 years experience in the industry, Eric has a wide range of invaluable experience, including claims, loss adjusting, underwriting and marketing.
Eric has held numerous senior management positions with major Australian insurers. Prior to joining LEA, key roles included Mercantile Mutual's Branch Manager for the Gold Coast and Northern NSW region, where he was responsible for the branch's financial results, service standards and relationship management. He also led the Gold Coast's team to achieving the highest service standards on a national basis.
Later, under QBE Mercantile Mutual, he was Claims Manager for the Northern Region, overseeing the intergration of state claims departments from two large insurers. He was also Business Support Manager responsible for human resources, change management, project coordination, facilities management and communication.
Eric also has considerable experience developing affinity schemes and groups, bringing this skill to LEA, where he has since been responsible for growing the group's business with new and existing clients. He has been a company director since June 2005.
Eric holds a Diploma of Financial Services (General), a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking), and is an Associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, a Certified Insurance Professional and a NIBA-accredited Qualified Practising Insurance Broker.
In his spare time Eric enjoys golf, indoor cricket, touch football, fishing and camping and socialising. He is also a member of the Gold Coast area Crime Stoppers committee.

Troy Jennings - Insurance Broker
Troy Jennings is one of LEA's principals, joining the group as an insurance broker in April 2000. With 15 years experience in the industry, Troy has particular expertise in franchise insurance, running several schemes and cluster groups. He has previously worked with Mercantile Mutual/QBE and Mercantile Mutual. Troy is based at LEA's Gold Coast office.
Troy has a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) and has an ANZIIF Associate Diploma. He is also NIBA QPIB accredited and has been awarded a Rotary Australia "Pride of Workmanship Award" for outstanding service to the industry of insurance broking and the community. In 2009 Troy was nominated for and accepted by QBE Australia as one of only ten participants in Qld to undertake their 12 month Professional Development Program eQuip. The eQuip Program is designed to enhance the capabilities of the next geneation of insurance industry leaders.

Alan Graham - Insurance Broker
Alan Graham is a principal and insurance broker at LEA Insurance Brokers. With over 20 years experience in the insurance industry, Alan brings a wealth of industry expertise with a focus on small and medium sized businesses in the retail and commercial sectors.
Alan joined Barry J Lea and Associates in 1998 for the opportunity to grow with the business and ultimately become involved in ownership. This goal was realised when Alan became a principal of LEA Insurance Brokers upon the amalgamation of Barry J Lea and Associates and Robina Insurance Brokers. At LEA Insurance Brokers; he is responsible for building business relationships and foster the growth of the company.
Prior to joining Barry J Lea and Associates, Alan held various roles at Suncorp Metway Limited and liaised with insurance brokerages to supply insurance advice and quotations.
Alan is committed to superior customer service and takes time to understand his clients and their needs, to provide them with the most appropriate and competitive insurance solutions. Alan holds a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking). He is a member of Surfers Sunrise Rotary Club, and in his spare time enjoys golf and tennis.

Col Irvine - Insurance Broker
Col Irvine is a Principal and Insurance Broker with LEA Insurance Brokers, commencing with LEA in June 2004. With 39 years experience in the industry, Col has worked in a number of diverse environments and roles, including District Inspector, Underwriting Manager, Branch Manager and Company Director - both in Australia and overseas.
Col has brought to LEA a wealth of experience, working with QBE Insurance for 15 years and International Broker AON for 18 years and working in North Queensland, the ACT, NSW and Papua New Guinea. He currently specialises in large commercial and professional indemnity covers for high-end clients. Col has a Diploma of Financial Services (Broking) and is a NIBA accredited Qualified Practising Insurance Broker. He was the first NIBA representative to be based in North Queensland.
